Trump Expects To Revoke Bruce Ohr’s Security Clearance "Very Quickly"

In an apparent continuation of efforts to use the revocation of security clearance as a punishment, President Donald Trump has now set his sights on former Associate Deputy Attorney General Bruce Ohr.

Trump called Ohr a “disgrace” in remarks to reporters on the White House South Lawn on Friday and said he expects to revoke the former Justice Department official’s security clearance “very quickly.”

“I suspect I’ll be taking it away very quickly,” Trump said when asked about Ohr’s security clearance. “For him to be in the Justice Department and doing what he did, that is a disgrace.”

Ohr has recently come under fire from Trump and other Republicans for his connection to Glenn Simpson, co-founder of Fusion GPS, the opposition research firm involved in producing a dossier on Trump’s ties to Russia. Ohr’s wife Nellie worked for Fusion GPS.

Trump made headlines earlier this week with his decision to revoke the security clearance of frequent critic John Brennan, former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency.

The president attributed the move to the risks posed by Brennan’s “erratic conduct and behavior,” although critics have accused Trump of attempting to stifle free speech.

Security clearances for other Trump critics, including former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, former CIA Director Michael Hayden, former National Security Adviser Susan Rice, and former FBI director James Comey, are also under review.

Trump also sought to link Ohr to the investigation of Russian meddling in the 2016 election being conducted by special counsel Robert Mueller, who the president claimed also has “a lot of conflicts.”

However, a report from the Washington Post noted Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein has said Ohr has no involvement in Mueller’s investigation.
