Apple to call new phone iPhone XS, introduce gold color option: report
Apple Inc. AAPL, +1.44% is planning on calling its upcoming phone lineup the iPhone XS, according to a report from 9to5Mac. The publication said it could "report with certainty" the name for the product line, as well as Apple’s plans to introduce two OLED models, which has been widely expected. Many anticipate that Apple will introduce a slightly enhanced version of the current iPhone X with the same screen size and one that features a 6.5-inch screen. 9to5Mac said that there would be a gold color option with these devices. The company is also expected to launch a cheaper, LCD model. Apple didn’t immediately respond to MarketWatch’s request for comment. The company on Thursday sent out invitations to a Sept. 12 event at its headquarters where it is expected to announce its new phones, as well as updates on the Apple Watch. 9to5Mac reported that Apple will launch an Apple Watch Series 4 with an edge-to-edge screen and the ability to display more information on the watch face. Apple shares are up 1.7% in midday trading Thursday. The stock is up 39% over the past 12 months, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -0.45% has gained 19%.
