Champion skier Lindsey Vonn, NHL star P.K. Subban are engaged
One of sports’ most prolific power couples has put a ring on it.
New Jersey Devils defenseman P.K. Subban and retired skier Lindsey Vonn are engaged, the couple announced Friday.
“Right off the bat, I knew he was different,” Vonn said in a Vogue article that coincided with the engagement announcement. “But I’d been married before, so I was pretty hesitant to let myself think that I could find someone that I would want to be married to again. After a few months of dating, I knew he was the one I wanted to be with, though. He makes me happy, and he’s so positive and energetic.”
Subban, who was traded to the Devils by the Nashville Predators this offseason, has established himself as an elite defenseman during his 10-year career. Vonn, 34, won three Olympic medals – one gold – in downhill skiing, while holding the record for most medals at a World Championships by an American with eight (two gold).
Subban, 30, proposed last month at the couple’s Los Angeles home, according to Vogue, with an emerald ring – since green is Vonn’s favorite color and it’s his birthstone.

“I got the ring and said, ‘You know what? I’m just going to do it at home.’ Everything kind of came together on that day,” he said. “Everyone says the stars aligned — well, it was actually a full moon. I was worried because I knew she would want to be dressed up and not in her pajamas, and it just so happened she had a business meeting, so she was fully dressed up.”
The duo met in 2017 at the Nickelodeon sports show and began dating when Vonn became single at the end of that year. They went public at the CMT awards the following year and are currently in the process of moving to New Jersey in preparation for Subban's season with the Devils, but still found time to create a funny Fourth of July tradition on Instagram.
