Build-a-Bear’s ‘pay your age’ is actually available all year round
Being a parent is expensive.
And luxuries like toys only add to that expense.
So it stands to reason that mums and dads across the country would go wild over a way to buy a cheap teddy.
That’s what’s happened today as teddy store, Build-a-Bear Workshop launched their ‘pay your age’ promotion.
The scheme does precisely what it says on the tin – and allows parents to pay their child’s age for a bear.
So a five-year-old would get a teddy for £5.
However with some shoppers queueing before shops even opened and others queueing for over six hours, Build-A-Bear stores have been forced to take drastic action.
The company is refusing to take in any more families wanting to take advantage of the promotion due to safety concerns.
Stores across the country have been forced to close and children have been left crying.
However, there’s a simple way for disappointed bargain hunters to still get their hands on a ‘count your candles’ bear.
It turns out the offer is open to parents all year round.
All you have to do to claim the promotion is sign up to Build-a-Bear’s Bonus Club scheme.
In a post on their Facebook, Build-a-Bear wrote: "Keep in mind, our new Count Your Candles program is available to Bonus Club members all year long and allows children under 14 to pay their age for our special Birthday Treat Bear during the month of their birthday."
Signing up to be a Bonus Club member also provides customers with reward points and access to other special offers.
Parents can sign up for free on the Build-a-Bear website .
Speaking about the carnage a spokesman for Build-a-Bear said: "The response to our Pay Your Age Day event at all of our U.K. locations has been overwhelming and unprecedented in our 21-year history.

"The crowds have greatly exceeded our expectations and, per local authorities, queues are at capacity and we cannot accept additional guests due to extreme crowds and safety concerns.
"We understand our guests are disappointed, and we are working to address the situation."
They added: "We will reach out directly to our valued guests as soon as possible."
