MPs will later today be asked to vote for a third national lockdown for England due to the rapid spread of a mutant variant of Covid.
But Mr Johnson said the UK was now in a “sprint in a race against the virus” to vaccinate people quicker than coronavirus is spreading.
He added: “We have now done more vaccinations in the UK than the rest of Europe combined.”
The Prime Minister announced the new lockdown in a televised address on Monday night.
He warned the surge in coronavirus cases left him with no choice but to act.
When the Government introduced the new 3 Tier system in England in December, there was a huge backbench rebellion on the measures.
The Prime Minister suffered his biggest revolt since taking on the top job with 55 Conservative MPs voting against the measures.
Mr Johnson is expecting far more support for his latest coronavirus restrictions due to the out of control spread of the virus.
Yesterday the number of positive tests in 24 hours across the UK surpassed 60,000 for the first time.
In the past seven days 391,615 people have tested positive for the virus, a 43.7 percent increase on the previous week.
Damning statistics from the Office of National Statistics last night indicated as many as one in every 50 people in England now have Covid, with the number rising to one in every 30 in London.
